Rugs, new media art, dinnerware, open house

Reese Schroeder to speak in Dubai

Reese Schroeder has been invited to be a guest speaker at the DOMOTEX Middle East 2009 Trade Show in Dubai, UAE. I will be speaking about liquidoranges art and the complexity of adaptation into hand woven rugs. Our principal efforts over the past year have been to work with rug manufacturers who offer the highest quality hand weaving, taking our designs and interpreting them as a work of art for the floor. We see this as an important trend in architecture and interiors as buildings adopt Green Design protocols, specifically the requirement for increased day lighting. We are already seeing more transparency in architectural interiors where traditional placement of artworks is shifting to other positions. The flooring surface is perhaps the greatest blank canvas an artist could want, and our first effort through Willard Custom Carpets in The Netherlands is a remarkable example of this trend.

New Rug from Bangkok, via Netherlands

Our latest r111600 design interpreted by Willard in the Netherlands arrived last week and is absolutely AMAZING. Here is a quick photo of the sample. Again, this rug is hand woven from wool and silk, in the Willard factory in Bangkok Thailand. This version will be on tour this spring at major home furnishings retailers. We would LOVE to hear your comments on this exciting addition.
