Hand Tufted Rugs and Carpets
This is where the studio began in 2008, working through various processes to determine authentic integration between art and architecture. These art rugs, and many others, began as New Media works by Reese Schroeder, developed into rugs by Jan Willard of Laren, Netherlands. His hand-tufted quality resulted in beautiful depth, coloration, and integrity with the original artworks. The rug shown during tufting (111600 below) had its world premiere in Dubai, UAE in 2009 at the DomoTex 2009 Middle East Show, where Reese Schroeder was a guest speaker at the Designer's Corner.
Technology art interpreted through traditional processes, the value of the old supports the new, and the new extends life to the old.

How we approach custom rug and carpet design -
Generally, custom art rugs and carpets begin with an understanding of the color theme of the space they intend to inhabit. From there, based on established dimensions provided to us by the client, conceptual sketches are produced to show design variations. Once colors and design direction are determined, we'll order samples from the weaver with different yarn materials, including silk, acrylic, bamboo, linen, etc. Costs are associated with each and will be presented to finalize the complete project cost. Size is not usually an issue, with very large rugs made in sections and stitched together on the reverse.
