072923 Complexity: One of the most influential concepts that has continually supported my art came from a book by Robert Venturi FAIA, titled “Complexity and Contradiction”. I spent a day with him in his office in Philadelphia back in 1985 and he signed my copy. Complexity and Contradiction is essentially a description of life itself. Those white lines or geometric forms layered into an organic movement is my acknowledgement of the complexities in life, juxtaposed with contractions of elements suggested as the unpredictability in all things. There is no perfect scenario. There are only complex layers managing in balance with contradiction.
